Topic: Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT)  

PERT provides emergency assessment and referral for individuals in a behavioral health crisis who come to the attention of law enforcement through phone calls from community members or in-field law enforcement request for emergency assistance. Join us to learn how PERT is working to protect your loved ones in our community.


Guest Speakers: Wes Albers, Community Liaison for the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT)

Wes Albers, Community Liaison for the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT), is a retired Detective Sergeant and 30 year veteran of the San Diego Police Department. He’s a trained hostage and crisis negotiator and graduate of the FBI’s National Crisis Negotiation Course at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. He served as Staff Sergeant of the SDPD Emergency Negotiations Teams for more than a decade where he coordinated training, equipment, and field operations. Wes has developed and taught courses for Alliant International University and has trained negotiators from around the United States and beyond. Prior to joining PERT full-time in 2019, he has assisted PERT throughout the years in a number of ways ranging from training to field response. He is also part of the developmental team that authored the countywide School Threat Protocol.

HOW TO JOIN THE VIRTUAL MEETING:
  • Please RSVP by no later than Sep 9 by 4:00 pm on Eventbrite (as you usually do - link below.)
  • On meeting day, we will send those that have RSVP'd an email with a link to join the meeting on Zoom. (Email sent by 10:00 am for early RSVPs and another at 5:00 pm.)
  • Join the meeting on Zoom at 6:30 pm. The guest speaker will start shortly.
