 The group meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month, with a combination of Zoom and in-person meetings. It's an opportunity to learn from guest speakers, share resources, and enjoy connecting with other parents raising a child on the autism spectrum or related special needs. All parents welcome!

 

AUGUST TOPIC: Plans before pills: a kinder, safer approach to medications for those with autism

As a parent of an individual with autism, Dr Feder understands the struggles families often face when trying to determine the best course of treatment for their loved one, and offers practical advice and tools that parents can use.

GUEST SPEAKER: Joshua D. Feder, M.D, Child and Family Psychiatry Solano Beach

Dr. Joshua Feder is a child and family psychiatrist with a clinical practice in Solana Beach, California, Editor in Chief at the Carlat Child Psychiatry Report, author of the Child Medication Fact Book for Psychiatric Practice (2nd Ed 2023) and Medical Director at Positive Development, providing affordable developmental relationship-based support for autistic children and their families nationwide.


He is the father of an autistic son and the son of an autistic father. Dr Feder cowrote the first American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Practice Parameter on the Assessment and Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Feder teaches, conducts research on approaches to autism early childhood and on employability of autistic individuals and helps run the Autism Is inclusion program, the only active antibullying program certified by the State of California Department of Education.   • Please RSVP by no later than Aug 16 by 4:00 pm on Eventbrite
  • On meeting day, we will send those that have RSVP'd an email with a link to join the meeting on Zoom. (Email sent by 10:00 am for early RSVPs and another at 5:00 pm.)
  • Join the meeting on Zoom at 6:30 pm. The guest speaker will start shortly.
  • All interested family members welcome!
