February Topic: Rx for Autism: Review and Update

Join us as we briefly review current and some investigational pharmacotherapies for autism!   Current approaches address particular behaviors but do not address the core symptoms of autism because there has been no unifying understanding of pathogenesis.  We will review the new "cell danger response" hypothesis as a unifying theory for the root cause of autism spectrum disorders, and its implications for a novel antipurinergic therapy.

Guest Speaker: Randolph Barrows, MD

Randolph Barrows is a physician specializing in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics.  He practiced internal medicine in academic, private, and federal health settings for many years before consulting full-time in areas of health information technology.  He has a 20 year old son with ASD.  When not working, Dr. Barrows enjoys music, outdoor activities, and craft beer.
