Since 2003, San Diego State University has offered educators an opportunity to receive a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in autism. Since then, the program has continued to grow and expand to help teachers to meet the challenges of their students needs with autism.
Currently the Department of Special Education is offering two types of grants to prepare masters level teachers in the area of autism; one for those working with children birth to 8 years of age and one for those who work with secondary or transition age autism students. Grant funding for MA candidates includes books, program tuition and some professional travel.
